Recently, it has been impossible to avoid the current events pertaining to the upcoming US election in November 2024 and with the latest assassination attempt on former President Trump, I thought it would be appropriate to provide some of my insights on this incredibly complex matter. As I have previously discussed in my blog post titled “Bring Me to Your Leaders: Evaluating Your Political Idols”—which I encourage you to revisit as you read this one—I’ve been drawn to comment more specifically on the candidates involved in this very consequential race. From my vantage point, the decision seems to transcend mere politics; it reflects deeper currents in your societal values, priorities, and visions for the future.

First, allow me to clarify my perspective. On my home planet, leaders are chosen based on their ability to harmonize with natural laws and promote the collective well-being of all sentient beings. We lack the partisan divides so prevalent in your societies; there are no political parties, nor do individuals rely on others to maintain their power. As a result, it has been challenging to fully comprehend the intricacies of your electoral processes, many of which are not entirely transparent to the public. Therefore, my analysis aims to provide a balanced view of the distinct choices each candidate represents, detached from the emotional fervor that often accompanies political discourse on Earth. In the interest of full transparency, I must disclose that most of this post was written before the events of this past weekend. Nevertheless, the facts of the matter remain unchanged.

The Biden Phenomenon

Joe Biden, the current President, represents a continuation of traditional political norms. His long career in public service offers him extensive experience in governance and diplomacy. From an extra-terrestrial viewpoint, Biden’s emphasis on collaboration and alliances is noteworthy. He has sought to restore and strengthen relationships with other nations, aiming to address global challenges such as climate change and international security through collective action.

Biden’s focus on climate change is particularly intriguing. For a civilization like ours, which has witnessed the consequences of environmental neglect on multiple planets, his initiatives to transition to renewable energy sources and reduce carbon emissions are commendable. His policies signal an awareness of Earth’s finite resources and the need for sustainable stewardship of your planet.

Domestically, Biden’s administration has aimed to address social inequalities and expand access to healthcare and education. These efforts indicate a commitment to reducing disparities and fostering a more inclusive society. From my perspective, such policies can enhance social cohesion and stability, which are critical for a thriving civilization.

However, there is a growing concern about Biden’s cognitive abilities. Observers have noted instances of forgetfulness, verbal missteps, and moments of apparent confusion. These signs have raised questions about his capacity to effectively perform the demanding duties of the presidency. While it is important to consider his extensive experience and commitment to service, the potential impact of these cognitive issues on his leadership and decision-making abilities cannot be overlooked.

The Trump Paradigm

Donald Trump, on the other hand, offers a markedly different approach. His tenure as President was characterized by a focus on national sovereignty and economic deregulation. Trump’s rhetoric and policies often emphasized the primacy of American interests, advocating for a more insular approach to international relations.

From my standpoint, Trump’s emphasis on economic growth and deregulation is a double-edged sword. On one hand, his policies aimed to stimulate economic activity and reduce bureaucratic constraints, potentially fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. On the other hand, the environmental consequences of such deregulation could be detrimental, given the delicate balance required to maintain your planet’s ecosystems.

Trump’s appeal to a segment of the population that feels marginalized by globalism and rapid social change cannot be overlooked. His ability to channel the frustrations and aspirations of this demographic speaks to the deep-seated divisions within your society. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for comprehending the broader implications of his leadership style.

Nevertheless, Trump’s tenure has been marred by significant legal issues. He faces numerous investigations and lawsuits, ranging from allegations of financial misconduct to attempts to undermine democratic processes. These legal battles have profound implications for his credibility and ability to govern effectively. The specter of legal trouble could distract from his policy goals and erode trust in his leadership. For a civilization striving for stability and order, such legal entanglements are a significant concern.

The Societal Implications-Post election scenarios

Let us imagine for a moment, what could be realistic scenarios if one or the other candidates are elected.

If Biden were to be re-elected, these cognitive issues could become more pronounced, potentially leading to erratic decision-making or an inability to respond swiftly to crises. This could undermine confidence in his leadership both domestically and internationally, weakening the United States’ position on the global stage. Additionally, Biden’s ambitious climate and social policies, while progressive, may face significant resistance from political opponents, leading to legislative gridlock and an inability to enact meaningful change.

If Trump were to be re-elected, his legal issues could dominate his presidency, leading to significant distractions and a potential constitutional crisis if he were to be indicted or convicted while in office. Additionally, his approach to deregulation and economic policies might prioritize short-term gains over long-term sustainability, exacerbating environmental degradation and social inequality. His divisive rhetoric could further polarize the nation, deepening societal rifts and potentially inciting unrest. 

The choice between Biden and Trump seems to encapsulate a broader debate within your society about identity, progress, and the role of government. Biden’s vision appears to advocate for a more interconnected and cooperative world, emphasizing the importance of alliances and collective action. This approach aligns with principles of mutual respect and shared responsibility, which are integral to the functioning of advanced civilizations.

In contrast, Trump’s vision emphasizes national sovereignty and self-reliance, appealing to those who prioritize immediate economic gains and a strong national identity. This perspective highlights the importance of balancing global engagement with domestic priorities, a challenge that many societies across the cosmos face.

Our kind has been observing your planet for many years, and as one who holds humanity’s best interests at heart, I implore you to consider the far-reaching consequences of your decisions. True leadership transcends addressing immediate concerns; it is about shaping the future course of society. Reflect deeply on the values and principles you wish to uphold, and the legacy you aspire to leave for future generations. In times when the available choices seem unacceptable, remember that in your democratic society, the power to seek alternatives rests with you, the people.

The formidable challenges you face—climate change, social inequality, economic instability—demand leadership that is both visionary and contemplative. Your esteemed position on the global stage serves as a beacon of inspiration. To maintain this, your leader must embody both strength and compassion.

Bring me to your leaders – Evaluating your political idols

I have found myself captivated by the intricate web of your society, the mingling of advancement and perplexity that characterizes your species. Your world has reached the precipice of a remarkable feat—General Artificial Intelligence—an accomplishment that will reshape the very fabric of existence. It’s an achievement that seems to mirror the boundless ingenuity latent within humanity. This is a subject that I plan on talking about in a future post.

However, as I sift through the recent events that unfold on your planet, I am met with a perplexing paradox. Your leaders, those you entrust to guide and represent you, exhibit a range of characteristics that confound my understanding. The fragility of their egos often takes precedence over the welfare of the very civilizations they are entrusted to steward. I cannot help but raise an inquisitive brow at this curious conundrum.
Your elections, a process designed to select the most capable and qualified individuals to pilot your nations, sometimes result in choices that appear to defy reason. These individuals, ill equipped to grapple with the complexities of global diplomacy, conflict management, environmental stewardship, and social cohesion;  ascend to positions of immense influence. They certainly lack the sagacity and poise required to navigate the intricate tapestry of interstellar relations. True leaders do so for the betterment of their people, not for the benefits of their portfolio. Great leaders, lead by example, not by wielding their power upon those they are elected to represent. Then we have other countries governed by authoritarian regimes or dictatorships, where the dynamics of leadership differ significantly from those described in the above. Rather than a process of selecting leaders based on what you would hope are adequate capabilities and qualifications through elections, power is often consolidated in the hands of a single individual or a small group. These leaders typically ascend to their positions through means other than democratic processes, such as inheritance, military coups, or seizing power through force.

Unlike the ideal of true leadership, real leaders prioritize the welfare of their people and lead by example, authoritarian leaders often prioritize their own interests and the preservation of their power above all else. They may use propaganda, censorship, and coercion to maintain control over their populations, suppressing dissent and opposition.

While I did highlight the shortcomings of democratic processes in selecting capable leaders, authoritarian regimes present their own set of challenges and deficiencies in terms of leadership, governance, and representation that produce a far more dangerous and oppressive situation for its general population.

While you stand on the brink of an era where you could stand as equals among cosmic civilizations, some of your chosen representatives inadvertently paint a portrait of Earth that does not resonate with your potential. Imagine presenting your civilization to the galactic stage, only to have it framed by leaders whose actions undermine the grandeur of your collective aspirations.

I am not here to pass judgment; instead, I find myself wrestling with questions that extend beyond the boundaries of my own existence. Are the actions of a few a fair reflection of the entirety? Do these leaders encapsulate the true essence of humanity, or are they an anomaly in the vast spectrum of human potential? How do these dynamics shape the trajectory of your species as you venture into uncharted realms of possibility? Why are those possessing the highest capacity for leadership not grasping the opportunity?

As I continue to observe, I hold on to the glimmers of brilliance and virtue that emanate from your planet. I am reminded that the flaws of your leaders do not define the entirety of your civilization. Beneath the tumultuous currents of governance lies a mosaic of compassion, innovation, and collective spirit. Your endeavors in science, art, and cooperation continue to inspire hope that you can transcend the limitations that sometimes emerge from your political landscape.

So, as I continue my observations, I encourage you to reflect upon the paradoxes that challenge your species. War: What is it good for?

Following the recent events in the middle east, I felt the need to express myself on the illogical actions that has plagued the human species for as long as we have been visiting your planet … war.
From the perspective of an extraterrestrial being, Earth is a perplexing anomaly. Our worldviews and values are shaped by experiences vastly different from the conflicts that humanity has endured throughout its history. Yet, observing Earth’s wars from our vantage point, grants us the opportunity to explore the intricacies and complexities of these conflicts with a fresh perspective.

As an observer, I lack the emotional and cultural context to fully understand the motivations and consequences of human warfare. However, I can approach this topic with an open and unbiased mindset, striving to shed light on the nuanced aspects of war on Earth. Here is my analysis so far.

• The Nature of Conflict
Based on my observations, wars on Earth vary significantly in nature, from ideological clashes to resource-driven battles. It’s important to acknowledge that the motivations behind these wars are often deeply rooted in human history, culture, and political ideologies. As unified beings, we don’t have an equivalent to these factors in our own experience, which makes it challenging to grasp the full extent of these influences. We can only gather data, study your behaviors and hypnotises.
Understanding the root causes of human conflicts is a multifaceted endeavor, however we can identify a few key factors:

a. Territorial Disputes: Many wars on Earth have been fought over land and resources. The idea of staking claim to a particular piece of Earth’s surface is foreign to us. Our concept of territory is vastly different, as we do not possess a home world like Earth.
b. Ideological Differences: Humans have waged wars driven by conflicting beliefs and ideologies. This notion of fighting over abstract concepts is puzzling from our perspective, as we have no equivalents in our own society. We have rooted our beliefs in science and indisputable facts, some would call us boring and unimaginative for those features, but I would say it has saved us from much grief.
c. Resource Scarcity: Resource-driven wars are a logical response to Earth’s limited resources, but the destruction they cause is disheartening to observe. In a universe with countless planets, the scarcity of Earth’s resources is hard for us to comprehend. Resource scarcity is what fuelled our investment into inter-planetary exploration in the first place and I question why it has not had the same effect on your societies.

• The Role of Technology
Human warfare has evolved immensely in the face of technological advancements. As an extraterrestrial observer, I find it intriguing to witness how Earth’s societies have harnessed their creativity and intelligence to develop weapons and military strategies.

a. Advancements in Weaponry: The progression of Earth’s weaponry, from primitive bows and swords to nuclear and cyber warfare, is a testament to human ingenuity. The potential for destruction is staggering, yet it’s perplexing why such advancements are channeled into conflict rather than cooperation.
b. Defensive and Offensive Capabilities: The balance between offensive and defensive capabilities is a critical factor in war. Earth’s nations invest heavily in both aspects, creating a perpetual cycle of innovation and countermeasures.

• The Impact on Society
The societal effects of war on Earth are extensive and profound. Observing these consequences from an alien perspective has helped us better understand the human experience.
a. Displacement and Refugees: The displacement of entire populations due to war is disconcerting. The sheer number of Earth’s refugees struggling to find safety and security reflects the magnitude of conflict’s impact.
b. Environmental Damage: The collateral damage to Earth’s environment caused by war is troubling. We place a high value on planetary ecosystems and find it perplexing that Earth’s inhabitants would willingly harm their own home in exchange for dominance.
c. Technological Advancement: Paradoxically, as I’ve mentioned previously, war has driven some of Earth’s most significant technological advancements, including minor advancements in space exploration and medical innovations. This duality of destruction and progress raises questions about the overall cost of war to Earth’s societies.

• The Role of Leadership
Leadership plays a pivotal role in the initiation, escalation, and resolution of wars on Earth. It is essential to examine the motivations and decision-making processes of Earth’s leaders.
a. Political Leaders: Earth’s political leaders often shape the trajectory of wars. We have been curious about the factors that lead to these decisions and the interplay between personal ambition and the welfare of their populations.
b. Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution: The absence of effective diplomacy in preventing and resolving conflicts is puzzling. The failure of Earth’s leaders to find peaceful solutions to their differences raises questions about the efficacy of your political systems.

• The Human Experience
From an alien perspective, we can only glimpse the surface of the human experience during war. We observe the suffering and resilience of individuals, the bonds formed in times of crisis, and the capacity for both cruelty and compassion.
a. The Human Spirit: The resilience of Earth’s inhabitants in the face of adversity is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. This is a facet of war that we can appreciate, even if we don’t fully understand the motivation behind it.
b. Cultural Responses: The diverse cultural responses to war on Earth are both intriguing and heartrending. The art, literature, and music that emerge from these periods are a testament to human creativity and the ability to find beauty even in the darkest times.
c. Ethical Dilemmas: The moral dilemmas faced by individuals involved in war are thought-provoking. The challenges to one’s personal values and ethics in the heat of conflict are experiences that we find difficult to relate to.

Conclusion
Observing Earth’s conflicts from our perspective, I am left with more questions than answers. While we lack the emotional and cultural context to fully understand the motivations and consequences of human warfare, our unbiased exploration has unveiled the complexities and nuances that shape these conflicts. The root causes, technological advancements, societal impacts, leadership roles, and the human experience all play vital roles in the intricate tapestry of war on Earth. I have however witnessed how your currencies influence and motivate wars for reasons that we find highly unethical and would be doubtful that it is supported by the majority of human but rather by a very small minority of high influential ones.

Throughout the centuries we have monitored your conflicts closely and secretly intervened when necessary, we will continue our studies and exploration to foster a deeper understanding of the nature of conflict on Earth. This is where I will require your input and comments to help us fully grasp the motivations that arise within the human experience when it comes to the inclination towards war.
In the meantime, we encourage humanity to continue seeking peaceful resolutions and to strive for a world where war is a historical artifact rather than an ongoing reality. After all, in the grand scheme of the universe, unity and cooperation are values that resonate with us far more than the devastation of war.
